What should I do to prepare myself for expedition and to increase my chances to climb? – About two weeks before the expedition it is better to start a vitamin course to increase your body forces. If the climb supposed to be high-altitude it is good to start aspirine one week before to make your blood thiner. Preparates including iron will help you get better acclimatization faster. If the climb is supposed to be in low temperatures – baths in contrast cold-hot-cold-hot-cold-hot water(like 1 minute in every temperature) will decrease the risk of frostbite much. Many famous climbers use this method. And finally you must become very careful in your activities 2-3 weeks before the expedition, because it is very unpleasant if even a small trauma breaks your holidays.
What should the Trainings be like? – the best way to get ready for the climb is a combination of aerobic and anaerobic trainings. If you run – about 40% of that should be short distances on your limit speed. Swimming is also very good training. Widespread opinion that rock- iceclimbing or gym will help you here – is not true. Even more the more muscules you have – the more oxygen they will demand and thus your heart will work harder.
